\n\tSteven Spielberg<\/a>\u2018s \u201cDisclosure Day<\/a>\u201d has been unveiled to members of the film press ahead of its June 12 release date, and first reactions are calling the sci-fi UFO-focused movie \u201cSpielberg\u2019s best film in 20 years,\u201d with high praise for star Emily Blunt<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\n\tGizmodo senior entertainment reporter Germain Lussier took to X<\/a> to share his reaction, writing, \u201cI loved \u2018Disclosure Day.\u2019 A dense roller coaster ride blending chase film, love story, & mystery, all wrapped in sci-fi wonder. It\u2019s Spielberg\u2019s best film in 20 years, filled w\/ all the magic that makes his films so special, plus an all-time character\/performance by Emily Blunt.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tCollider\u2019s Editor-in-Chief, Steven Weintraub<\/a>, agreed with Lussier\u2019s sentiments, saying, \u201cIn a shock to absolutely no one, Steven Spielberg has delivered another towering home run with \u2018Disclosure Day.\u2019 I could go on and on about what I loved, but I was lucky enough to see the movie knowing almost nothing, and I strongly recommend you do the same. Stop watching the trailers. The one thing I will say: Emily Blunt is incredible. I know big summer movies aren\u2019t usually the kinds of performances that get awards-season attention, but once people see what she does in this\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

Film reporter Bill Bria<\/a> also spotlighted the film\u2019s \u201cbreathtaking compositions, David Koepp\u2019s \u2018X-FILES-meets-The Bible\u2019 script is one big high-wire act, Emily Blunt\u2019s most accomplished performance, and John Williams\u2019 best score in years,\u201d calling the movie \u201criveting, moving stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tTessa Smith<\/a>, a film and TV reporter at Rotten Tomatoes, says she \u201cshed a tear at the end.\u201d \u201c\u2018Disclosure Day\u2019 is ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL! Truly something special,\u201d Smith wrote. \u201cI was hanging onto every word, captivated by the story as it all played out. The score perfectly elevates every single scene. Part mystery, part Twlight Zone, something new entirely\u2026WOW.\u201d<\/p>\n

The film\u2019s official logline reads, \u201cIf you found out we weren\u2019t alone, if someone showed you, proved it to you, would that frighten you? This summer, the truth belongs to seven billion people. We are coming close to \u2026 \u2018Disclosure Day.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBlunt plays a Kansas City TV meteorologist who is suddenly overcome by a mysterious extraterrestrial force while taping a weather segment live on air, and is joined by Josh O\u2019Connor who stars as an alien life believer, determined to reveal the truth about life outside of Earth to the rest of the world. Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, Colman Domingo, Wyatt Russell and Henry Lloyd-Hughes round out the cast. <\/p>\n

\n\tSpielberg developed the story with screenwriter David Koepp, who he previously collaborated with on the films \u201cJurassic Park,\u201d \u201cJurassic Park: The Lost World,\u201d \u201cWar of the Worlds\u201d and \u201cIndiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cDisclosure Day\u201d marks the 37th film that Spielberg has directed. The auteur\u2019s filmography is packed with high profile sci-fi titles, including the \u201cJurassic Park\u201d movies and \u201cWar of the Worlds,\u201d in addition to \u201cClose Encounters of the Third Kind,\u201d \u201cE.T. the Extra-Terrestrial,\u201d \u201cMinority Report,\u201d \u201cA.I. Artificial Intelligence\u201d and \u201cReady Player One.\u201d<\/p>\n

I can’t remember the last time I loved a Spielberg movie as much as #DisclosureDay<\/a> \u2014 thrilling, funny, deeply emotional and impeccably acted (Emily Blunt, in particular, is astounding).
