Balatro<\/span><\/span> and <\/span>Abiotic Factor<\/span><\/span> publisher Playstack could soon be under the majority ownership of Integrated Media Company (IMC), an investment group that also owns entertainment brands such as Fandom, Screen Junkies, Fanatical, and GameSpot.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Playstack owner TruFin <\/span>announced the proposed sale<\/a><\/span> on May 21, 2026. The company told investors it has agreed to sell its 84.5 percent stake in the UK publisher to VantageCo for around \u00a3112.4 million ($151 million). VantageCo is an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of Integrated Media Company.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The deal values Playstack at around \u00a3125 million ($169 million) in total and is subject to shareholder approval. The TruFin board is recommending shareholders vote in favor of the sale.<\/span><\/p>\n

“We believe the disposal of Playstack represents a milestone for TruFin and a clear demonstration of our disciplined approach to capital allocation and value creation. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with the Playstack team over the last few years and look forward to them achieving future success,” said TruFin CEO, James van den Bergh.<\/span><\/p>\n

“IMC is a superb platform for the next stage in Playstack’s journey and we wish the team at IMC well for the future.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Earlier this year, <\/span>Playstack revealed it has a ‘hit ratio’ of more than 85 percent<\/a><\/span>, meaning the vast majority of titles it has published have generated a positive return on development costs.<\/span><\/p>\n

The combined Playstack catalog has grossed over $100 million on Steam and generated over 20 million downloads during the last fiscal year.<\/span><\/p>\n

Playstack founder and CEO Harvey Elliott acknowledged the proposed sale in a <\/span>brief statement posted on the company website<\/a><\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“I’m excited to share that Playstack is entering its next chapter with a new investment partner. In practical terms, this is a change in ownership rather than a change in who we are. Our team, our strategy, and our commitment to publishing premium indie games remain exactly the same.<\/span><\/p>\n

“For now, it\u2019s business as usual. I sincerely thank TruFin for being an invaluable partner over the past seven years, helping us reach this exciting next step.”<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
