Warning: The following post contains discussions of suicide.<\/em><\/p>\n Alaskan Bush People<\/a><\/em> star Bear Brown<\/a> shared \u201creally bad news\u201d on TikTok<\/a> on Friday, telling fans of the Discovery<\/a> reality series that his older brother and costar Matt Brown<\/a> likely died by suicide the night before.<\/p>\n \u201cI wanted to start out by saying that I can\u2019t confirm that it\u2019s a hundred percent true right now, but it is what I\u2019m hearing,\u201d a tearful Bear said in the video. \u201cSo I\u2019m being told that late last night that Matt took his own life. \u2026 Witnesses say that he was seen in a river, at a river, or close to a river, and that he took his own life, and that they saw him floating down the river.\u201d<\/p>\n Bear cautioned that the reports of Matt\u2019s death were just based on witness testimony \u2014 and said investigators have been scouring the scene but haven\u2019t found a body. And he added that his brother had been struggling with alcohol and drugs for a long time and had estranged himself from the family.<\/p>\n \u201cBefore I left for Florida, I actually ran into him in Walmart, and we talked for a few minutes, and that was the last time I saw him, you know?\u201d Bear said. \u201cAnd he called me after that, and he said that he had fallen off the wagon, and I was like, \u2018Well, get back on it, man. You know, everybody falls off. Just get back on it. Go to rehab if you\u2019ve got to. You\u2019ve got this. You\u2019ve fought it a lot before and all.\u2019 And that was the last call I had with him, and that was a little bit ago.\u201d<\/p>\n Bear said Matt had been going through \u201ca really bad breakup\u201d with a \u201cgirl that he really liked,\u201d but he never thought the 43-year-old was suicidal.<\/p>\n Bear ended his video by asking fans to be respectful of the family and of his mom, Ami Brown<\/a>, in particular. \u201cMom cares very much for Matt and always has and has been through a lot for him \u2014 a lot,\u201d he said. \u201cSo please don\u2019t attack my mom. Anyway, I just wanted to let y\u2019all guys know. God bless.\u201d<\/p>\n In a follow-up TikTok video<\/a>, Bear spoke out against \u201cnegative, nasty\u201d comments on his original upload and told fans that recent social media posts posted in Matt\u2019s name are not authentic.
