Off Campus<\/em><\/a> breakout star Mika Abdalla<\/strong> and Jake Short<\/strong> have ended their engagement.<\/p>\n

\u201cDue to recent interest in Mika\u2019s personal life it would feel remiss to not address that her and Jake are no longer together,\u201d a rep for Abdalla tells Us Weekly<\/em> exclusively. \u201cThey continue to support each other and remain on friendly terms, and kindly ask for privacy and respect.\u201d<\/p>\n

The pair originally met on the set of<\/a> Sex Appeal<\/em> in 2021 and then started dating. Four years after they met, their engagement was confirmed via Instagram.<\/p>\n

Following the highly successful premiere of Prime Video\u2019s Off Campus<\/em>, Abdalla \u2014 who stars as Allie \u2014 is currently focused on filming the second season. Based on Elle Kennedy<\/strong>\u2018s book The Score<\/em>, season 2 will revolve around Allie<\/a> and Dean\u2019s (Stephen Kalyn<\/strong>) love story.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven though we do tease Dean and Allie a lot earlier than people expect, you are still left wanting a lot more,\u201d Abdalla exclusively told Us<\/em> in May. \u201cAnd that\u2019s something I\u2019m really excited about. You just want to see more.\u201d<\/p>\n

Abdalla explained that the show<\/a> wanted to \u201cstay true to a lot\u201d of Allie and Dean\u2019s love story.<\/p>\n

\u201cAllie and Hannah\u2019s story lines are so connected to one another that it just made a lot of sense to touch on that this season,\u201d she said about the extended focus on Allie and Dean throughout season 1. \u201cAll the books, they build off of each other and they\u2019re all connected. It didn\u2019t really make sense to not include certain elements from the other books in this season.\u201d<\/p>\n
