A bit like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sherdog.com\/fighter\/Jessica-Andrade-100715\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jessica<br \/>\nAndrade<\/a>, Souza\u2019s game is built around her physicality. She does<br \/>\nwell as an inside boxer, bouncing into range and unloading with<br \/>\nhooks, where her power is plain to see. Even if she doesn\u2019t land<br \/>\nthe knockout shot, she has proven adept at nullifying taller,<br \/>\nlonger women who want to strike with her at distance, as she showed<br \/>\nin her last outing against <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sherdog.com\/fighter\/Bruna-Brasil-182855\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bruna<br \/>\nBrasil<\/a>, where she used a mix of wrestling and relentless clinch<br \/>\ngrinding to frustrate and ultimately defeat her opponent.<\/p>\n<p>Souza is nobody\u2019s idea of a technical wrestler, but her athleticism<br \/>\nand strength serve her well in the inevitable clinches and<br \/>\ncollisions, allowing her to bring fights to the ground, where she<br \/>\nserves up nasty punches. She can take the back, especially of an<br \/>\nalready compromised foe, and close things out in a hurry, as she<br \/>\ndid against <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sherdog.com\/fighter\/Yazmin-Jauregui-299051\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Yazmin<br \/>\nJauregui<\/a> at Noche UFC last September. Souza\u2019s ceiling thus far<br \/>\nhas been against women who can either match her physicality and<br \/>\naggression, or at least be unbothered by it, as shown in her<br \/>\nconsecutive losses to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sherdog.com\/fighter\/Piera-Rodriguez-247469\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Piera<br \/>\nRodriguez<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sherdog.com\/fighter\/Angela-Hill-148517\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Angela Hill<\/a><br \/>\nin miserable fights.<\/p>\n<p>Carnelossi\u2019s game depends on her physical gifts (and limitations)<br \/>\neven more than Souza\u2019s. One of the shortest women in the<br \/>\nstrawweight division and one of the most impressively muscular<br \/>\ncompetitors in any division, \u201cSorriso\u201d favors a simple and direct<br \/>\napproach on the feet, kicking from the outside and sliding into<br \/>\nrange to unload big hooks with both hands. Her punches are not<br \/>\nespecially fast, but carry serious power, thanks to her strength<br \/>\nand her tendency to swing hard on everything.<\/p>\n<p>Like her kickboxing, Carnelossi\u2019s ground game is not especially<br \/>\ntechnical but can be quite effective. She has completed (and<br \/>\nprevented) takedowns she should not have been able to, simply<br \/>\nbecause of her low center of gravity and enormous strength.<br \/>\nHowever, she is not very good at keeping opponents down, she often<br \/>\ncomes out on the losing end of scrambles, and against <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sherdog.com\/fighter\/Talita-Alencar-386905\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Talita<br \/>\nAlencar<\/a> in her most recent outing, Carnelossi was badly<br \/>\noutgrappled by the niftier jiu-jitsu practitioner.<\/p>\n<p>There is a time not too long ago when this line would have been<br \/>\nmuch closer, but Souza is fighting as well as she ever has while<br \/>\nCarnelossi appears to be in decline at 33. The pick is Souza by<br \/>\ndecision in a grueling, sometimes ugly fight in which she wins all<br \/>\nthree rounds.
