Even if you aren\u2019t familiar with the event, there\u2019s a fair chance you\u2019ve seen videos from it\u2014that is, if Cummins-powered pickups cross your feed now and again. Sadly for the tuners and shops involved, those videos sometimes <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thedrive.com\/news\/37628\/the-aftermath-of-a-3000-hp-dodge-cummins-diesel-that-exploded-on-the-dyno\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">show a truck erupting in a massive fireball<\/a> on the dyno. Such was the case over the weekend for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/jbjdiesel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">JBJ Diesel<\/a> out of Idaho.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph skip\">Jake Rodriguez\u2019s third-gen Ram was performing beautifully on the dyno when the nitrous controller failed. Power numbers at the time of explosion were high\u20142,695 horsepower with revs still to give\u2014but unfortunately, the engine gave first. You can see the carnage from a few angles below:<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-tiktok wp-block-embed-tiktok\"\/>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-tiktok wp-block-embed-tiktok\"\/>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph skip\">When I say the truck was on its way to a far higher number, just know that it\u2019s broken the 3,000-hp mark before. This beautiful, red single-cab climbed all the way to 3,342 hp at last year\u2019s Diesels in the Mountains contest. Whether or not it could have won the UCC dyno event by beating Poor Boys Diesel\u2014which hit 3,825 hp\u2014is tough to say.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph skip\">Rodriguez and his crew swapped in a spare engine for the remaining UCC rounds, which included a sled pull the next day. He gave a glimpse of that backup Cummins <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DYTM03MOj7K\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">in a video<\/a> about a month ago, and I have to say, that thing probably has more money in it than my house. (I guess that\u2019s the benefit of living in a mobile home.)<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-instagram wp-block-embed-instagram\"\/>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph skip\">You can bet that JBJ Diesel isn\u2019t done with the rig yet. It\u2019ll surely be back on a dyno soon, and they have another year to prep for UCC 2027. Based on what I\u2019ve seen from the shop, they\u2019ll have a real contender ready to go\u2014and it\u2019ll be a looker, too.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph skip\"><em>Got a tip or question for the author?
