That&#8217;s about 20% above its fixed IPO price of $135 per share, but down sharply from the peak levels exceeding $220, reached shortly after its May launch. SpaceX perpetual futures on Binance were trading at a similar level.<\/p>\n<p>Musk&#8217;s rocket company is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/spacex-ipo-demand-is-approaching-four-times-oversubscribed-source-says-2026-06-09\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reportedly running four times oversubscribed<\/a>, meaning demand from investors is roughly four times greater than the number of shares available in the offering.<\/p>\n<p>SpaceX is set to begin trading Friday on the Nasdaq. At a valuation of $1.77 trillion, Musk&#8217;s venture would instantly rank as the seventh-largest public company in the United States, surpassing Tesla, which currently has a market capitalization of roughly $1.6 trillion.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Perpetuals on Hyperliquid suggest there&#8217;s interest in the SpaceX IPO, but it&#8217;s far from euphoric,&#8221; Eric Chen, co-founder and CEO of Injective Labs, a decentralized finance infrastructure company. &#8220;These markets are dominated by very active, risk\u2011tolerant traders, and they aren&#8217;t pricing in a massive premium versus other pre\u2011IPO names. It&#8217;s a useful signal, but not a guarantee of how the broader market will react once SpaceX actually lists.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The risk is that the most optimistic participants still aren&#8217;t extremely bullish, which raises the question of how durable that demand is once real liquidity and price discovery kick in, according to Chen. <\/p>\n<p>Perpetual futures contracts, known as &#8220;perps,&#8221; are a type of futures contract that let investors speculate on an asset&#8217;s price without an expiration date and utilizing leverage, without ever owning the underlying asset. <\/p>\n<p>They&#8217;re one of the most popular ways to trade in crypto, accounting for more than 70% of all the volume on centralized global crypto exchanges, according to CoinGecko.<\/p>\n<p>The decline in the SpaceX perp coincides with the slide in crypto prices broadly. <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"RegularArticle-QuoteInBody-3\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/BTC.CM=\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bitcoin<\/a><span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\"\/><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span> and <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"RegularArticle-QuoteInBody-4\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/ETH.CM=\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ether<\/a><span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\"\/><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span> are down 20% and 23%, respectively, in the same period from when the perp was launched on May 18.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ArticleBody-googlePreferredSourceContainer\" data-module=\"GooglePreferredSource\" data-id=\"RegularArticle-GooglePreferredSource-5\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/preferences\/source?q=https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Choose CNBC as your preferred source on Google and never miss a moment from the most trusted name in business news.<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Tesla Cybertruck drives past SpaceX facilities in Hawthorne, California, April 13, 2026.
