{"id":33551,"date":"2026-06-14T12:45:46","date_gmt":"2026-06-14T12:45:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/trendifyhubusa.com\/index.php\/2026\/06\/14\/flood-watch-issued-rainfall-rates-of-up-to-3-inches-per-hour-possible-nbc-chicago\/"},"modified":"2026-06-14T12:45:46","modified_gmt":"2026-06-14T12:45:46","slug":"flood-watch-issued-rainfall-rates-of-up-to-3-inches-per-hour-possible-nbc-chicago","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trendifyhubusa.com\/index.php\/2026\/06\/14\/flood-watch-issued-rainfall-rates-of-up-to-3-inches-per-hour-possible-nbc-chicago\/","title":{"rendered":"Flood watch issued, rainfall rates of up to 3 inches per hour possible \u2013 NBC Chicago"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for the entire Chicago area, with heavy rainfall rates possible as afternoon thunderstorms arrive. <\/p>\n<p>According to the alert, rainfall rates could at times exceed 1-to-3 inches per hour at times, which could lead to flooding in low-lying areas, in urban locations, and in parts of the region that were hard hit by storms on Wednesday. <\/p>\n<p>The National Weather Service says high humidity levels and warm temperatures could combine to create optimal conditions for heavy rain to fall, and the movement of the storms could bring them over the same areas multiple times and inundate creeks, streams and other areas. <\/p>\n<p>The flood watch will remain in effect until 11 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-x wp-block-embed-x\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">A warm, humid environment is allowing for efficient rain rates as the storms move in from the west. Localized torrential rainfall is possible increasing the chances for flash flooding.
