10 years, starting in 2004,<\/a> SFGATE reported.<\/p>\nThe units were used by Parton\u2019s staff, and the property had lattice features and gold reflective film on windows to prevent paparazzi photos, according to Lapp.<\/p>\n
The inside of the property was also full of hints that Parton was once there.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Lapp used to live in the back house and said that upstairs was Parton\u2019s makeup room, wig room and a dressing room area. <\/p>\n
\u201cNeighbors and people that would tend to the house before she came up, would come by and talk to me and said she would come up with her crew,\u201d Lapp said. \u201c\u2026She used it as a weekend retreat, I guess.\u201d<\/p>\n
In the basement, he said he found more of Parton\u2019s belongings, including western-themed home furnishings.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe loved wooden angels and wooden tulips, which I have a lot of,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
When Lapp began leasing out the units, he would tell the tenants not to change anything inside.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of stenciling of little hearts and stuff inside the unit,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen a famous person owns a house, what they do is they scrub the title, meaning they don\u2019t have any information on the title report,\u201d Lapp said. \u201cI was like \u2018well that seems really weird.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
However, his escrow agent at the time was able to confirm through permits that it once belonged to Dolly Parton Enterprises, Lapp said.<\/p>\n
Lucy Padilla, escrow officer with First American Title, said to her understanding, the property was sold to a local family in 2014 and purchased from 561 Alisal Road Trust.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe recorded deed shows Todd Gelfand as the trustee of The 561 Alisal Road Trust. He seems to be associated with Mrs. Parton,\u201d Padilla told Noozhawk in an email.<\/p>\n
Gelfand is listed as part of Parton\u2019s crew as her business manager<\/a> for the 2020 television special \u201cA Holly Dolly Christmas,\u201d according to IMDb.<\/p>\nAfter buying the home, Lapp restored the property, including the windmill, and added the stained glass.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI wanted to make sure she didn\u2019t get erased from it, and I think Solvang needs more stuff for people to do,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The property has received a lot of attention and online buzz for its connection to Parton.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe get a lot of lookie-loos,\u201d Lapp said.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Secret Solvang<\/a>, a tour group company, featured the property on its social media as a place where Parton once lived<\/a>, drawing surprise and skepticism from locals.<\/p>\nIn a social media video, Secret Solvang\u2019s founder, Wes Leslie, said Parton sold the Solvang property in 2014.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t really know anything about the home. From what I have gathered, she never officially lived in the home, but it was an investment property that (the) family would occasionally use,\u201d Leslie told Noozhawk in an email.<\/p>\n
But for other residents, the idea that Parton once lived there has just been a questionable rumor.<\/p>\n
Carol Lake, who works at the Elverh\u00f8j Museum of History & Art<\/a>, a Solvang history museum and a longtime Solvang resident, told Noozhawk she would be very surprised if Parton even stayed there overnight.\u00a0<\/p>\nThe property also has its very own Instagram page under the handle @dollys_house_solvang<\/a>. The page is run by Lapp, who posts photos of the house and has chronicled its restoration, spanning back to 2022.\u00a0<\/p>\nLapp is only offering tours of the house for interested buyers. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
