PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — <\/span>New details are emerging about the suspect in a deadly shooting inside Wilmington Hospital<\/a> on Tuesday, as authorities say the accused gunman, a hospital employee, is now in custody.<\/p>\n

Police identified the suspect as 23-year-old John Wallace-Bey of New Castle.<\/p>\n

Investigators allege Wallace-Bey shot two 19-year-old co-workers inside the facility, killing one and critically wounding the other.<\/p>\n

Authorities say Wallace-Bey was arrested several hours later in Philadelphia’s Olney neighborhood. He is currently being held in Philadelphia following his arrest and has been charged with murder.<\/p>\n

Police sources say Wallace-Bey escaped to Olney in a Toyota Rav 4, which was later towed. An image obtained by Action News shows Wallace-Bey walking in the neighborhood before sources say he got into an Uber.<\/p>\n

Officials say they tracked Wallace-Bey using license plate reader technology, which led them from Wilmington Hospital to Philadelphia.<\/p>\n

Surveillance video shows officers and FBI agents eventually close in on Wallace-Bey at the corner of North 9th Street and Lindley Avenue around 9:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

Doorbell camera footage showed police towing the vehicle shortly after it arrived at the scene.<\/p>\n

Wallace-Bey appeared before a Philadelphia judge, who denied bail. He now awaits extradition back to Delaware.<\/p>\n

ChristianaCare confirmed that Wallace-Bey and the two victims were all hospital employees. Officials have not released any information about a possible motive, but investigators believe the shooting was a targeted attack.<\/p>\n

According to Wallace-Bey’s LinkedIn page, he worked as a community tech intern at the hospital. One employee says Wallace-Bey was in her department before the shooting unfolded.<\/p>\n

“Normal, just normal. Came in, did what he had to do and left,” the worker said.<\/p>\n

The violence has left neighbors in shock, including John Richardson, who lives next door to the suspect in New Castle.<\/p>\n

“Just speechless that it happened. And it’s an unfortunate situation and you hate to hear. Lives were lost yesterday. So, it’s an unfortunate situation that happened,” Richardson said.<\/p>\n

John Wallace-Bey has been identified as the alleged gunman, police say<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Residents in the Olney neighborhood also reacted to the arrest, expressing relief that the suspect had been apprehended.<\/p>\n

“Us as a community, we have to do better. Keeping these things from out of our community,” said Terrence Thomas.<\/p>\n

“They got the guy. So, less crime should be on the street now,” another resident said.<\/p>\n

Action News spoke with the family of the victim who was killed. They asked for privacy at this time.<\/p>\n

Authorities have not released further details as the investigation continues.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
