Ultimately it came down to Ohio State, Texas and Texas A&amp;M with the <a data-autotag=\"822d9954-d86b-4626-bf51-6dd81a3c1a32\" href=\"https:\/\/sportsdata.usatoday.com\/football\/ncaaf\/teams\/texas-longhorns\/3488\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-t-l=\":b|e|k|\u2691u\" class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\">Longhorns<\/a> winning that battle on Friday, June 19.<\/p>\n<aside aria-label=\"advertisement\" class=\"gnt_x__c gnt_x__lbl gnt_x__al\"\/>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">He recently took official visits to both Texas and Texas A&amp;M with the Longhorns hosting him on June 5 and the Aggies the weekend prior.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">According to 247Sports, the 6-foot-2, 175-pounder is ranked as the No. 4 overall prospect in the 2027 class and the top defensive back in the cycle. The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/sports\/high-school\/2026\/05\/16\/football-recruiting-rankings-2027-class\/90045151007\/\" data-t-l=\":b|e|k|\u2691u\" class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">updated USA TODAY Sports composite football rankings for the 2027 class<\/a> ranks Meredith as the No. 2 player in the country.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"gnt_ar_b_sp\">High School Sports: <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-t-l=\":body nav (hss)|e|auto spike click:6|\u2691u\" class=\"gnt_ar_b_sp_a\" href=\"http:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/sports\/high-school\/\">The best preps coverage in the country, from rankings, scores and stats to local and national news\u2014every team matters.<\/a><\/aside>\n<aside aria-label=\"advertisement\" class=\"gnt_x__c gnt_x__lbl gnt_x__al\"\/>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">This year he was a participant in the 2026 Under Armour All-American Game where he registered a tackle and an interception.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"gnt_ar_b_h2\">Longhorns now have offensive, defensive centerpieces for 2027 class<\/h2>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Whether or not five-star wide receiver Easton Royal stays committed to Texas has been a question raging on the minds of many over the last few weeks as he recently took official visits to Florida and LSU.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"gnt_em gnt_em_anc\" id=\"gnt_atomsnc\" data-g-r=\"lazy\" data-gl-method=\"loadAnc\" aria-label=\"Newsletter signup form\"\/>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Royal has been committed to Texas since last November and the Longhorns have been battling to keep his commitment. Meredith&#8217;s commitment could play a crucial role in doing just that.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Prior to Meredith&#8217;s commitment, Texas&#8217; class was ranked by 247Sports as the No. 12 class in the 2027 cycle with 15 commitments.
