In a court appearance on Friday afternoon, her bond was set at $1.14 Million dollars. That\u2019s $10,000 for each count.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Crystal Gaynell Ann Lawson, 32, is charged with 113 felony counts of computer crimes \u2014 unauthorized access and one count of unlawful use of a two-way communication device, according to a newly obtained arrest warrant affidavit filed in Orange County\u2019s Ninth Judicial Circuit. Each unauthorized access count carries up to five years in prison.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Heading-jchBxnCE__HeadingBase-sc-vsmc8c-0 GKIqH article-header\">How it started: A fentanyl ring and leaked warrants<\/h2>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">The Orange County Sheriff\u2019s Office says the case began in 2025, when a DEA task force officer opened an investigation \u2014 under DEA Case No. GB-25-0103 \u2014 into a drug trafficking organization led by Omyry Hickson that was moving fentanyl and laundering money in Orange County.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">A judge signed secret arrest warrants for five suspects \u2014 Hickson, Josalyn Harris, Carlos Reed, Linell Lowe, and Amial White \u2014 on April 3, 2026. Investigators held off entering the warrants into public databases to coordinate a simultaneous roundup and seize assets and evidence.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Then things went wrong. On April 26, 2026, the task force officer received a text containing a color-scanned image of Hickson\u2019s arrest warrant affidavit. The document was not public. By April 30, scanned copies of warrants for two more suspects \u2014 including one still on the run \u2014 were transmitted through the same channel.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Investigators say the source was traced back to someone known inside the drug group as \u201cMel Baby.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Heading-jchBxnCE__HeadingBase-sc-vsmc8c-0 GKIqH article-header\">\u2018Mel Baby\u2019 and a father\u2019s boast<\/h2>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">\u201cMel Baby\u201d is the nickname for Melvin Lawson, according to the affidavit \u2014 an uncharged criminal associate of the drug group. Cooperating sources told investigators that Melvin regularly boasted he could get arrest warrants and other confidential court documents through his daughter, who worked inside the criminal justice system.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">That daughter was Crystal Lawson.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Stack-vJ7SwH7U__StackBase-sc-1m5bkhd-0 eLHQj bTwCzL full-width\" aria-labelledby=\"_R_dfpeda_\" id=\"BNSREAD7SJBC7HLK4RHUAL4BME\"><figcaption id=\"_R_dfpeda_\" class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 izaBwj\"><span class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 hbOwFx\">Booking photo for Crystal Gaynell Ann Lawson, 32, of Orlando<\/span><span class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 fhZqFm\"> (Orange County Jail)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">She had been hired by the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice in February 2022 and was given access to the Comprehensive Case Information System \u2014 known as CCIS \u2014 a statewide, government-only database of court records. In October 2022, she was fired following an arrest for battery.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">The problem: No one turned off her access.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Heading-jchBxnCE__HeadingBase-sc-vsmc8c-0 GKIqH article-header\">246 unauthorized searches \u2014 and she kept going<\/h2>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">According to the affidavit, Lawson made <b>246 individual CCIS search and document access incidents<\/b> between Jan. 27 and May 1, 2026 \u2014 all unauthorized. Investigators say she searched for DTO members\u2019 active cases, scanned for co-defendants using sequential case number searches, and accessed files tied to at least six separate individuals who had active, unserved arrest warrants at the time she looked them up.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">CCIS records showed she was the <b>only user<\/b> who accessed all five DTO defendants\u2019 court files \u2014 often at times that directly preceded or coincided with the leaks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">The CCIS login page, the affidavit notes, displayed a warning in red capital letters: \u201cFOR GOVERNMENTAL USE ONLY.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Heading-jchBxnCE__HeadingBase-sc-vsmc8c-0 GKIqH article-header\">Text messages caught her in real time<\/h2>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Investigators say some of the most damaging evidence came from text messages backed up in Melvin Lawson\u2019s iCloud account.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">On February 11, 2026, Crystal Lawson sent a message to a family group chat that read: \u201cTrap got out on ROR. They don\u2019t file charges in 30 days.\u201d The affidavit notes that at the exact time she sent that message, she was <b>actively logged into CCIS<\/b> and viewing the felony case file for Travis \u201cTrap\u201d Mosley \u2014 a member of the DTO.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">In a separate exchange on March 25, 2026, Crystal Lawson sent her father embedded images and wrote, \u201cthis man told on you.\u201d Minutes earlier, she had pulled up a charging affidavit in which a defendant named a man fitting her father\u2019s description as the source of a stolen electric bicycle. According to investigators, she used her database access to find the inculpatory statement and warn her father.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Heading-jchBxnCE__HeadingBase-sc-vsmc8c-0 GKIqH article-header\">A digital trail that followed her across the country<\/h2>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Investigators used iCloud records, IP address data, cell tower location records, and hotel receipts to place Lawson behind the keyboard for each unauthorized search.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">In one instance, CCIS activity on April 9, 2026 was traced to an IP address assigned to AT&amp;T Business at Hilton Hotels in Sacramento, California.
