TODAY host Carson Daly and his wife Siri are about to hit a milestone with their oldest son, Jackson. He is preparing to graduate from high school next year.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m in total denial,\u201d Carson said.<\/p>\n
He wants to take every \u201cmicro-minute\u201d of his time to be present in this particular moment with Jackson.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think the key to parenthood for me, for fatherhood, is trying every single day how to figure out how to slow the hands of time,\u201d Daly said at the the TODAY dads\u2019 annual Father\u2019s Day event at Swingers Crazy Golf in New York City.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s the biggest truth in parenting, when we have our first kids and other parents say, \u2018Enjoy it. It goes fast,\u2019\u201d Carson said. \u201cYou have your first kid and your world\u2019s spinning. You\u2019re like, \u2018Yeah, yeah. (Photo by Mike Mulholland\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n Jackson put together a list of colleges to visit and Siri tagged along to tour Clemson, South Carolina and Georgia. But weighing the options is particularly difficult when our world is moving so quickly.<\/p>\n \u201cJackson\u2019s looking at college right now,\u201d Carson explained. \u201cHe\u2019s 17, a junior in high school. In two years now when he\u2019s a freshman in college, the entire educational process of how or what he\u2019s supposed to get out of a four-year university experience is completely changing in real-time.\u201d<\/p>\n Carson mused about whether college is actually the best path for high school grads to pursue.<\/p>\n He said that Jackson \u201cmight benefit more from majoring in prompts of AI, learning how to use the technology to better a career.\u201d He paused and added, \u201cI\u2019m trying to get him into a trade. I\u2019m like, \u2018Hey, man. Become an electrician.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cAI isn\u2019t going to fix your AC system,\u201d Al laughed.<\/p>\n \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tGloria Caulfield, VP of strategic alliances at Tavistock, was booed for her remarks about AI during a commencement speech at the University of Central Florida.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n Whatever Jackson decides to do after graduation, Carson hopes he doesn\u2019t move too far from their Long Island, New York home.<\/p>\n \u201cWe drive by LIU Post, our local college, and I say, \u2018Look, there\u2019s our school, son.
