Tropical Storm Amanda forms in the Pacific

Tropical Storm Amanda, the first tropical storm of the Eastern Pacific hurricane season, has formed.
Two other areas of interest could strengthen over the next seven days and pose a threat to parts of Mexico’s coast next week.
These storms come ahead of what is expected to be a busy season for the Pacific.
Amanda is here
The National Hurricane Center’s 11 a.m. EDT on Wednesday has brought Tropical Storm Amanda, which was formerly called Tropical Depression One-E.
Amanda is located far out in open waters and is not a threat to land.
It may move slowly northwest or west-northwest and gain some strength, but it will remain far from land between Hawaii and Mexico before fizzling out next week.

Two other systems?
By early next week, two other systems could become more organized closer to Mexico’s Pacific coast, as shown by the graphic below.

Both of these blobs are expected to drift to the north or northwest and have plenty of favorable conditions for development.
Given plentiful deep, warmer-than-average water in the Eastern Pacific, these could not only strengthen to the second or third tropical storms, but possibly the season’s first hurricane. The second Eastern Pacific storm will be called “Boris,” while the third will be named “Cristina.”
If they develop, there are three possibilities with these blobs next week:
It’s too soon to tell which of these scenarios may unfold, but there are cruise points across western Mexico. Regardless of whether any of these storms make landfall, there could still be impacts.
