The Dallas Mavericks are sneakily one of the more interesting teams in the NBA to watch out for this offseason, as there are plenty of questions about what they might do with their roster to build around Cooper Flagg. With a new general manager in place, head coach, and some other changes that are expected to be made, the Mavericks have a chance to be one of the more interesting teams to watch out for in the entire NBA next season.

The only question now is whether the Mavericks will make the right moves to ensure they put the right pieces around Flagg. One of those decisions will be about Kyrie Irving, though the latest report suggests it wouldn’t be too surprising if they decided to move on from him.
The more interesting part here, however, is that the Los Angeles Lakers aren’t expected to be interested in the future Hall of Famer.
“The Mavericks are saying they like Irving as a veteran mentor, but in reality, they need to clear the decks around Cooper Flagg and move on. Even coming off a knee injury, Irving has value around the league. Minnesota might be an ideal fit, but don’t hold your breath on the Lakers pursuing him, despite what you read,” Sean Deveney of Heavy reported.
The idea of Irving playing with the Lakers has been floated over the past few years, mainly because LeBron James is on the roster.

With James’ future in Los Angeles in question as well, many other factors will be at play here.
