Dailyn Swain – 2026 NBA Draft Guide

His parents are Constance and Dean. Swain has four siblings, and he is the second oldest. He grew up in Columbus, Ohio, and was an immediately valuable high school basketball player, although he wasn’t seen as a definite future NBA player.Ā

Swain went to Columbus Africentric Early College, where he started as a freshman and was an honorable mention all-state player. In his junior year, he was the state player of the year in his division and won first-team all-state honors. As a senior, he repeated as the player of the year in his division and was one of the runners-up for the Ohio Mr. Basketball award. Swain took his team to the state semifinals in both of his final seasons and also emerged on the AAU circuit as a high-major prospect. He was his high school’s all-time leading scorer.Ā

Swain was considered a four-star recruit and a consensus top-100 prospect in the 2023 recruiting class. He chose Xavier over Ohio State, Arizona State, Cincinnati and others to play for Sean Miller. He made the Big East’s All-Freshman team his first season but missed Xavier’s final five games that year after an appendectomy. He entered the starting lineup as a sophomore and averaged 11 points as an excellent two-way player. When Miller departed Xavier for Texas, Swain followed him.Ā

Swain broke out last season with the Longhorns, averaging 17 points and becoming Texas’ best player. He won second-team All-SEC honors while carrying the Longhorns from the NCAA Tournament First Four to the Sweet 16, where they lost a tight game to Purdue. Swain was seen as a likely first-round pick when he declared for the 2026 NBA Draft after theĀ season.
