At the helm of the pan-African fuel distribution giant, the French executive – who previously worked at TotalEnergies – has a talent for surrounding himself with leading figures across the continent.

Under Stan Mittelman’s leadership, the petroleum distributor Vivo Energy, founded in 2011 by Vitol and Helios through the acquisition of Shell’s African assets, has adopted a more aggressive posture on the continent. A former senior vice-president for Africa at TotalEnergies Marketing & Services, the Frenchman has been the architect of the group’s scaling-up since taking the helm in March 2022.
