Latest Bulls Rumors Updates HC Search Timeline as Team Looks to Replace Billy Donovan
The Chicago Bulls’ head coaching decision could be on the way soon.
Per NBA insider Marc Stein, the next Bulls head coach “could be announced as soon as Monday.”
Stein noted that the Bulls’ finalists are Atlanta Hawks assistant Ryan Schmidt, Minnesota Timberwolves assistant Micah Nori, Portland Trail Blazers interim head coach Tiago Splitter and Wes Unseld Jr., an assistant coach on Billy Donovan’s staff in Chicago.
Schmidt has been an assistant with the Hawks for the last two seasons and was previously the head coach of Atlanta’s G League affiliate, where he posted a 17-17 record.
Nori has been a popular candidate in head coaching searches over the past few seasons after his success with the Timberwolves. He’s been in Minnesota since 2021 and previously served as an assistant with Toronto, Sacramento, Denver and Detroit.
Splitter took over in Portland following Chauncey Billups’ exit early in the season, and he managed to put together a strong season, leading the Blazers to the playoffs for the first time since 2021.
Unseld’s first tenure as a head coach was rough as he was unable to turn things around in Washington, but he’ll look to find more success if given the reins in Chicago.
